Spring Band Trip

The band will be traveling to Winchester, Virginia on May 2 & 3, 2025 to participate in the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival Firefighters’ Parade. We will spend the night in Winchester, Virginia and then travel to Washington D.C. where the band will enjoy a Washington DC Spirit Lunch Cruise on the Potomac.

Other activities will include a visit to the Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center – National Air and Space Museum and visiting the National Mall Area to see the national monuments and museums.

The cost of the trip is $400 per person.

The payment schedule for the trip is as follows:

PAYMENT 1 – NOVEMBER 26, 2024

  • $75 per participant (student or chaperone)
  • Any cancellations after November 26, 2024, and before December 27, 2024, will incur a $50 per person cancellation fee unless a substitute is found.
  • DO NOT MAKE A FULL PAYMENT AT THIS TIME!
  • ONLY MAKE THE DEPOST

PAYMENT 2 – December 18, 2024

  • $75 per participant (student or chaperone)
  • Any cancellations after December 27, 2024, and before January 31, 2025, will incur a $100 per person cancellation fee unless a substitute is found.

PAYMENT 3 – January 15, 2025

  • $125 per participant (student or chaperone)
  • Any cancellations after January 31, 2025, will receive NO REFUND, unless substitute is found.

PAYMENT 4 – February 19, 2025

  • $125 per participant (student or chaperone)

  • Round trip deluxe motor coach transportation from Nitschmann Middle School
  • One (1) night hotel accommodation at Hampton Inn by Hilton Winchester VA
  • One (1) breakfast at the hotel
  • One (1) dinner at Golden Corral
  • Performance in Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival Firefighters’ Parade
  • One (1) Washington DC Spirit Lunch Cruise

The spring trip medical form as required by the BASD.  Please complete pages 1 & 2 and bring them with you to the mandatory meeting on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 7:00 PM in the Nitschmann auditorium.  

All chaperones only need to complete page 1.

Page 3 is to be completed by any parent whose child will require prescription medication on the trip.  This page will need to be filled our by your child’s physician and MUST contain the name of the medication, dosage and the time the medication is to be administered such as with breakfast or at 2 PM every day.  

Specific instructions regarding the drop of of trip medications will be addressed at the mandatory meeting.

The medical form is due on APRIL 2 at the mandatory trip meeting.

The medicine distribution form is due to Mr. Zettlemoyer by April 22.  This serves as a script for the nurse to distribute any medicine and must be signed by a physician.  You will need a form for each med to be distributed. If you are attending the trip as a chaperone, you are permitted to give your child their medication without the form.

These forms (all three pages) will only be seen by the nurse or Mr. Zettlemoyer.  The nurse will have these forms with her throughout the trip.  Mr. Zettlemoyer will see them for organization and emergency purposes.

Paper copies of the forms will also be available in the instrumental music room.
